Topic 1: Privacy and human-centered learning

After reading the articles, I realized how simple it is to have your password compromised if you do not take precautionary measures. “Passphrases” is a reading that I mostly agree with. Nowadays, it is critical to never let your guard down and to never divulge any of your sensitive information. Although I recognize that having a password manager is beneficial, I disagree. I’m not objecting because I dislike the notion; it’s simply that it’s too hard for me. I’d rather keep things basic and straightforward. Reading these articles made me realize how prevalent phishing and hacking are in today’s internet infrastructure.  In the Teaching in blended learning environments: Creating and sustaining communities of inquiry, the authors state that they do not intend to limit blended learning based on the proportion of time spent in person or online. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if all classes were online. Although I like going out, I prefer to stay at home. When I have face-to-face classes, I basically go to the class and then go home. As a result, having lessons online makes things easier and less time-consuming. However, I believe that face-to-face interaction is still necessary for some classes for greater understanding. Most electives, I believe, should be alright, but many academic mandatory courses require face-to-face study. When I read, the Ethical challenges of edtech, big data, and personalized learning, it upset me that race, gender, and class we’re factors in how you were treated. For me, something I would like to learn is how companies secure their systems and internet bases to protect themselves against phishing and internet hacking. I think one of the main issues in today’s world is that many people are scammed online or have their bank information stolen and used in different countries. Websites are a key component for any business in this day and age. What is arguably as crucial as having the correct target audience because with the wrong audience the website renders itself useless. This is even more important for educational sites as no one will make use of them except for that specific target audience. This is why the target audience is the most aspect of marketing a website otherwise you have no purpose in making the website.
