Social media is the new generation’s learning style. Applications such as Youtube, Twitter, Snapchat, etc, are on of the most popular social media for learning and communicating. In fact, a study shows that “ A new Research study surveyed 4,594 Americans in 2018 and found that 51 percent of YouTube users use YouTube videos to learn new things. Youtube is the most relevant app for free online learning. Videos can be found containing any type of information and motivation. Nothing is impossible to learn on YouTube, from languages to self-defense routines. Youtube is also useful because it caters to a wide range of impairments and learning modifications. Also, one of the most crucial and popular aspects of YouTube is that it is completely free. People may study without being charged and from any device, whether mobile, laptop, or television. Other social media may not be impactful for learning information but serve a very important role in communication. This is because many people in schools make group chats and/or communicate through social media to stay up to date in their class. “Couros and Hildebrandt describe an innovative online course inspired by philosophies of the open source movement, trends in social media, and pedagogies around networked learning. This case study provides insights into the use of online networks and social media for learning”. This is a great example that shows how well online courses will do depending on the learner and their environment.
